My Grammy

Today "my Grammy" would be 107 if she were here.
She was the best! She was actually my great grandmother.
I was the first great grandchild. : ) She had 4 daughters,
and 9 grandchildren, all before me.
She has been gone a long time but I miss her today as much as
ever. She didn't quilt that I remember but sewed my clothes and hers
as well as many crafts. She taught me to sew on her machine when I
was about 6. I love fabrics and remember shopping at King's in Liberty
with her.

Happy Birthday "Ma"!

jumping jacks!!!!!!!!!! it is here!!!!!!!!

This is one of my favorite quilt pattern books. My best friend Kaye showed it to me years ago. I have cut many triangles from it. I found a copy on ebay last week and now I have one too. I also have one for Nine-Patch blocks as well as some others by Rita Weiss.

Road Trip to Sevierville TN

I am heading out on a road trip to Sevierville TN soon. Does anyone know of  a great
quilt shop to check out while I am there?

maybe even a guest.
Talk about simplifying : )

Hexie Hints

I'm not sure if anyone else has had trouble putting  the hexie's together in a
Grandmother's Flower Garden but probably the first time maybe like me. I usually
don't read instruction and figure things out the hardest way.  : ) That is the self
education in me. Anywho I read a tip here

 http://hexagonquilt-along2.blogspot.com/2010/02/making-strides.html

and wanted to share. Basically remember to add 5 hexie's on one side for easy joining.
Thanks Sharon for the tip!
There are more tips at the link at the top of that page.

past project I wanted to share

I made this for my great nephew's room a couple of years ago.
The valances are on open "windows" inside the house, the bedskirt and the crib quilt bumper pads.
Some of the blocks were made from his mom's nurse scrubs. I did the tag clutchez for the carseat
and the burpies for uh burps. : )

What I am reading...

Just starting this book, the writer's first novel of more than a dozen by Earlene Fowler.

goal for next week

My upcoming week hopefully will be used organizing my sewing room.

+ 8 yards of fabric this week.
I estimate about 10 yards last week.

Rules for Quilting...
1. always buy fabric no matter how much you already have.
2. always start a new quilt before the last one is finished, this requires you
to go back to step #1.

Saturday, June 5, 2010

And today I say...

...ask not what your fabric can do for you, but what you can do for your fabric!

Be creative!
Quilting is cheap therapy.
Every quilter has a masterpiece within.

Okay these are not my original lines but... I 'm still just saying...

Friday, June 4, 2010

if...

You know you are a Quilter if...
you pet fabric.
